Radiation hybrid (RH) Map
Two ovine radiation hybrid panels have been constructed:
  • USA: 5,000 Rad, sheep-hamster, 88 clones, 15-40% retention, resolution 69kb/cR
  • INRA: 12,000 Rad, sheep-hamster, 90 clones, 31.8% retention, resolution 15kb/cR
Currently 1000 EST and microsatellite markers are being mapped to the US panel; and 61 markers have been mapped to a 23 Mb region from the INRA panel.

The consortia plan to map representative BAC end sequences from the virtual genome and 60K SNP chip over both resources. This will provide a dense high quality RH map independently linking the BAC-comparative genome contigs (BAC-CGCs) together as well as confirming their order and orientation.
