Terms of Access
1. Non-transferability
The Requestor agrees to retain control over the data, and further agrees
to house the data securely and not to distribute the data in any form to
any entity or individual other than to his/her research staff who also
agree to the
Terms of Access.
2. Intellectual Property
The ISGC aims to ensure that the ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset and conclusions
derived from it will remain in the public domain. As a result, the Requestor
agrees that he/she shall not file any patent applications that contain
claims to any composition of matter of any single nucleotide polymorphism
("SNP"), genotype or haplotype data obtained from the requested ovine
SNP50 HapMap dataset.
3. Publication of Results of Analyses of ISGC Ovine SNP50 Dataset
The ISGC recognizes the effort that the HapMap project contributors have
made to provide both sheep samples and funds to support the genotyping
process. To recognise this contribution, the Requestor agrees that he/she
will not submit for publication any article containing global analyses
based on the requested ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset, or make such results
available to other researchers that have not agreed to the
Terms of
Access, until the release of the ISGC HapMap publication, or June
30th 2011, whichever occurs first. Examples of global analysis include,
but are not limited to, genome wide surveys of linkage disequilibrium,
the detection of signatures of selection and estimates of genetic and
haplotypic diversity. Further, the Requestor agrees that he/she will
not submit for publication any article containing any analysis based on
the requested ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset without the prior approval of
the ISGC Publication Coordination Committee. The process for approval
requires the Requestor to submit an advanced draft manuscript via the
ISGC secretary. The Publication
Coordination Committee will respond to all requests for approval within 30
days of receipt. Finally the Requestor agrees that they will not make the
requested ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset available as part of their publication
on a journal or any other website, nor will they make any results arising
from use of the ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset available via a web site prior
to approval from the ISGC publication committee.
4. Acknowledgement
The Requestor agrees to acknowledge the ISGC in all written presentations,
disclosures, and publications resulting from any analyses of the requested
ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset. A sample statement to be used in acknowledgments
is .The ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset used for the analyses described was
provided by the International Sheep Genomics Consortium and obtained from
www.sheephapmap.org in agreement with the ISGC Terms of Access..
5. Revised Versions
The ISGC may periodically make available improved versions of the ovine
SNP50 HapMap datafiles. The Requestors agrees that all such new versions
will subject to the
Terms of Access stated above.
6. Copyright
The ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset is copyright. Apart from any use permitted
under the Copyright Act 1968 or agreed to in the
Terms of Access,
no part may be reproduced by any process, nor may any other exclusive
right be exercised, without the permission of the current secretary of
the International Sheep Genomics Consortium.
7. Access Procedure
Requests for ovine SNP50 HapMap dataset are to be made via the dataset
request page on the ISGC web site (see below). The Requestor
will then be supplied with instructions as to how to download the data.
